Kindergarten Shape Prints

  • Students take knowledge of shape building through drawing and learn to "draw with scissors"

  • Students create geometric shapes using styrofoam paper sheets and scissors

  • Students create collage using white glue and shapes on chipboard to create printing plate

  • Students choose one color and use brush with tempera paint to cover printing plate

  • Students are then assisted when "printing" by turning over print plate onto white paper and pressing to create print

Printing Plate Example:

  • Students make underdrawing of food using reference photo

  • Students begin color blocking using oil pastels

  • Students finish by adding sgraffito to add texture

8th Grade Animal Oil Pastel Drawings

  • Students start by choosing animal and creating "color recipes" for colors found in animal

  • Students then create underdrawing and add color blocking

  • Students fine add texture using sgraffito
